While Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters officially opens Monday, March 7th at Disney California Adventure, this Friday the 4th saw the Annual Passholder preview day, and the park was jammed with excited guests eager to try the first new ride to be installed in Cars Land since the area opened almost four years ago.
Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters is a spirited Italian-style dance that invites guests to participate in a choreographed routine set to several different jaunty tunes. The trackless ride system is state-of-the-art, and impressively ensures that the individual cars can swiftly interweave with each other without colliding.

Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters replaces Luigi’s Flying Tires, which shut down early last year and was an homage to a long-gone Disneyland attraction called the Flying Saucers. Like its forebear, the Flying Tires never quite worked as well as Imagineers probably would have liked.
The new attraction is similar in experience to some other rides at Disneyland Resort, including the nearby Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree and the world-famous Mad Tea Party, but it also provides an additional fun, family-friendly diversion for children who are too small for E-ticket attractions like Radiator Springs Racers.
