Thanos is a superior extra-terrestrial being with command of an army, a group of genetically-modified ruthless killers and the most powerful weapon in the universe. The Avengers have a Hulk.

Mark Ruffalo will be returning as the calculating and quirky Dr. Bruce Banner when the Avengers take on Thanos in the upcoming “Avengers: Infinity War,” and he recently shared some insight as to what we can expect to see from him and the big green “other guy” in the new film.

We last saw the Hulk in “Thor: Ragnarok” after he separated himself from the group way back in “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” Now, he will have to rejoin the team for their biggest fight yet.

“Once again, I think he’s trying to find his place in the line-up,” Ruffalo said to ComingSoon.net. “He’s having some difficulties integrating with the rest of the group, but he’s also privy to some information that is essential for their survival… Banner knows probably more about Thanos than probably anybody and he’s really trying to impress on everybody how dangerous he is.”

Right there, Ruffalo essentially confirms what we had already assumed. Hulk comes face to face with Thanos after the events of “Thor: Ragnarok.” We saw Thor’s ship being overshadowed by Thanos’ and we know Hulk crashed through the roof of the Sanctum Sanctorum from the “Avengers: Infinity War” trailer. It would appear Thanos quickly dispatched of Hulk.

“The Hulk is also mightily impressed by Thanos,” Ruffalo added, further confirming the theory.

Ruffalo also discussed Banner’s romantic entanglement with Black Widow, an arc that began with “Avengers: Age of Ultron.”

“They’re star-crossed lovers. So it’ll be something they’re dealing with for the rest of their living days I think,” Ruffalo said. “Whether it’s requited or unrequited, I don’t imagine that’s gonna go away any time soon in one iteration or another.”

Of course, Hulk and Widow won’t be taking on Thanos by themselves. There is a long list of heroes that will be joining them and every last one of them will be needed for the fight. According to Ruffalo, their ability to work together will be be a major factor in their success.

“There’s no way to overcome what they’re facing without in some way coming to terms with their differences and embracing their diversity,” Ruffalo said. “That’s essentially a core value of the film and that together, only together, can they triumph.”

You can see just how well Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Iron Man and the rest of the Avengers come together when “Avengers: Infinity War” hits theaters April 27.
