Marvel announces mentorship, red carpet experience with “Thor: Ragnarok Superpower of STEM Challenge”

Science-minded girls have the chance to present their projects to a panel of experts in Los Angeles and attend the red carpet premiere of “Thor: Ragnarok” thanks to a new opportunity from Marvel Studios.

Marvel, along with Disney, Dolby Laboratories and Synchrony Bank, present Thor: Ragnarok Superpower of STEM Challenge. The mentorship program seeks to inspire young girls to use the power of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) to help their families, communities, and the world. The program is open nationwide to girls aged 15 – 18 in grades 10 – 12.

WATCH – SUPERPOWER OF STEM CHALLENGE:

Five finalists will be selected to attend the panel and premiere of “Thor: Ragnarok.” Each finalist receives the following:

  • Two round-trip tickets to Southern California for the finalist and her parent or guardian
  • Scheduled meals
  • Ground transportation
  • Hotel accomodations
  • $500 deposited into a high-yield savings account from Synchrony Bank
  • Walt Disney Studios tour in Burbank, CA

One grand-prize winner will be selected to attend an immersive three-day mentorship in New York City with Disney Imagineering to build her STEM story and create a professional-level video teaching other young people how to recreate her winning project. The winner also gets a brief appearance on “Good Morning America.”
