Disneyland is making changes to parking costs at the Downtown Disney District

If you’re planning to park at Downtown Disney in Disneyland, you should know that there are some new changes coming. Disneyland will be adjusting the costs of parking in that lot very soon.

Previously, guests could park at Downtown Disney for up to two hours at no cost. That’s not completely changing, but it is being tweaked a bit. Beginning Wednesday, August 16, guests will need to make a purchase of at least $20 and receive validation from any Downtown Disney location, including quick-service restaurants and kiosks, to be able to park for free for two hours.

Validation from any Downtown Disney table-service restaurant or AMC Theaters will allow guests to park for free for up to four hours.

Beyond these validations, guests will still be charged the normal $12 per hour to park in the lot, after a 15-minute grace period. The charges will be made in 30-minute increments, with a minimum of a $6 charge being made after the grace period is up. The maximum daily parking and lost ticket fees will be increased from $36 to $48.

In the end, these changes are not too intense as the hourly parking rate is remaining the same. The biggest changes are the loss of two free hours, without a minimum $20 purchase, and the $12 increase to the daily parking fee. If you’re visiting Downtown Disney with the plan to shop and maybe grab some dinner, you probably won’t be affected by the changes.
