Avengers assemble… for your fantasy football draft. Jeremy Renner, who plays Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, recently interviewed with ESPN’s Matthew Berry on “The Fantasy Show” regarding the very unique fantasy football league he plays in that just happens to be full of superheroes!

“The league we’re in is actually, it’s pretty awesome,” Renner said. “There’s a lot of Avengers in it.”

Renner isn’t joking. The league, which ironically enough is assembled every year by Captain America himself Chris Evans, is loaded with recognizable names. Aside from Renner and Evans, Anthony Mackie, who plays Falcon, is in the league as well.

It’s not just limited to Avengers though. Chris Pratt AKA Star-Lord from the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, and The Russo Brothers who have directed several Marvel films are in the league too. Even superheroes from outside the MCU are welcome. James Marsden, who plays Cyclops, and Miles Teller, who plays Mr. Fantastic, are also in the league.

“We have so much fun. It’s really I think just an excuse for us to kind of circle and do something outside of cinema and you know, our jobs,” Renner said. “And we all love sports, and football especially.”

The fun this group has with their fantasy league goes beyond just their love of football though. The real fun comes from their love of messing with each other.

“I personally love it just cause we can smack talk all the time,” Renner said. “Some people go to great lengths to intimidate each other, which is really great.”

Intimidating someone shouldn’t be too hard when you can hit a bullseye from a mile away with a bow and arrow.

As far as who wins in this league, according to Renner, he was in first for most of last season before Evans pulled an upset to win it all. Typical Captain America.

How do you think you would fare in a fantasy football league filled with superheroes?
