REVIEW: Knott’s Soak City is a refreshing water park alternative to Orange County’s other themed attractions

Among the older rides at Soak City, we really appreciated the Stormwatch tower, and we returned to complete all three slides (Typhoon, Cyclone, and Tornado) before the day was out. These experiences are unique in that the slides throw some unexpected curveballs at you during your run, such as water pouring down through strategically-placed funnels in their covers. Another favorite was the Malibu Run, which caught us completely off guard by plunging us into pitch-blackness during the vast majority of the tube-based slide.

In addition to all that, Soak City offers another 63-foot-high single-person slide tower called Old Man Falls, a 750,000-gallon wave pool, a family mat racer slide known as Banzai Falls, and plenty of options for younger guests, such as RK’s Beach House and Gremmie Lagoon.

After a full day of exploring, I can say that Knott’s Berry Farm has made a terrific effort in expanding and improving its Soak City water park, but there is still room for improvement. For one example, larger seating areas near the restaurants and food stands would be extremely welcome, as we had a lot of trouble finding a table once we had our lunch. Like my other minor complains, this has a lot to do with the high attendance levels during the day I was there, so my ultimate recommendation would be to try to attend on a weekday over the summer, if at all possible.
