Must-Have Munchies: The rainbow just got spicy as Skittles gets into the flavor game with new ‘Sweet Heat’ sensation

in Food

M&M’s candies, OREO cookies, and now Skittles (and Starburst) find new flavors for fans. For the first time, the rainbow gets some spice.

Wrigley’s fruit flavored candy Skittles is upping the ante by blending a bit of a blast.  Sweet Heat Skittles will give each of the famous fruit flavors “spicy kick” blended with the original taste.  The new flavors include Fiery Watermelon, Blazin’ Mango, Flamin’ Orange, Sizzlin’ Strawberry and Lemon Spark. The new packages will arrive in two options: 1.8 oz single serve size (99 cents) and the larger 7.2 oz “Laydown Bag” ($3.19).

Like OREO and M&Ms, Skittles has also offered other various versions of their original fruit-flavored bite-sized sweets.  The rainbow has also seen Wild Berry, Sour, Sweet and Sour mix, Tropical, and Orchard.

Starburst, another Wrigley brand, is also getting the sweet heat treatment.  New flavors will include Fiery Watermelon, Flamin’ Orange, and Pipin’ Pineapple.

Sweet Heat is not the only trick Wrigley has up their sleeve.  Trick Plays, a tie-in with the NFL, will be sure to keep fans guessing.  The outside color of the candy will not match the actual flavor of the small sweet.  This limited time flavor should be on shelves around the time professional football returns later this year.
