The sequel to 2014’s “Godzilla” has been highly anticipated since its announcement back in that same year. The tease of a potential presence of other monsters has been enough to keep fans of the classic Kaiju on the edge of their seats.

Now all of that anticipation has reached a fever pitch as Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. have released a statement regarding “Godzilla 2.”

It appears we’ll be getting exactly what we wished for, as Godzilla is now officially set to do battle with famous movie monsters Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah in the sequel.

According to the statement, which provided a brief synopsis of the upcoming film, a crypto-zoological organization known as Monarch will face off against a “battery of god-sized monsters.” The synopsis goes on to mention that Godzilla himself will collide with Mothra, Rodan and “his ultimate nemesis” the three-headed King Ghidorah.

This will be the third film in this cinematic franchise, after the aforementioned “Godzilla” in 2014 and “Kong: Skull Island” this year. “Godzilla 2” is set for release on March 22, 2019 and the ultimate showdown between two of the most famous monsters in film will take place May 22, 2020 with the release of “Godzilla vs. Kong.”
