VIDEO: Rivers of America have been refilled, new Railroad track construction progressing at Disneyland

It’s been a long sixteen months since the Rivers of America and Disneyland Railroad were shut down for construction of the new Star Wars expansion at Disneyland in Anaheim, but signs have started popping up of the process coming to an end.

This week the back half of the river surrounding Tom Sawyer Island has been refilled with water, and although the barrier dam between the two halves of the river is still there, this is a great sign that the park is likely preparing to allow guests access to the waterway (aboard the Mark Twain Riverboat and Sailing Ship Columbia) once again relatively soon. Progress on the new railroad train trestle is also coming along nicely.

In the above video you’ll note that Disneyland has also opened a new pedestrian walkway bridge to the side of the Hungry Bear restaurant in Critter Country. Will this bridge eventually continue around back past the river, serving as the west-side entrance to Star Wars Land?

No official reopening date for the Rivers of America or Disneyland Railroad has been announced, although last we heard it was “Summer 2017,” which is coming up in a little over a month or so. We’ll be sure to keep you posted here at Inside the Magic!
