It’s been a long time coming. Ever since Walt Disney World in Florida rolled out free guest Wi-Fi access back in 2012, Southern California theme park fans have wondered when the Disneyland Resort would adopt the same system.

Now, a full five years later, Disneyland has finally entered the testing phase of guest Wi-Fi in both Anaheim parks. Previously Wi-Fi access was limited to the Resort’s three hotels.

In all likelihood this move is being made in anticipation of much larger upgrades to Disneyland Resort’s guest interactivity, including MagicBand technology similar to what is currently in use at Walt Disney World. The upcoming Star Wars expansion will also presumably require publicly-available internet access in order to facilitate its immersive nature.

Guest Wi-Fi access is currently in test mode at the Disneyland Resort. No word yet on when patrons can expect a full rollout. Be sure to visit the official Disneyland website for more information and ticketing resources.
