VIDEO: “The Little Mermaid” live-action trailer released – but not the one you think

in Movies, Movies & TV

Disney has making a habit of creating live-action films based on their classic animated movies, with “Cinderella” a success, “Beauty and the Beast” ready for release, “The Lion King” cast announced, and “Aladdin” casting begun.

Fans eagerly awaiting a live-action version of “The Little Mermaid” can look no further than 2017 to see such a film: but not from Walt Disney Studios.

A trailer from Conglomerate Media and Kingsway Productions has been released for a new live-action film inspired by the classic Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale, “The Little Mermaid.” And despite it including an Academy Award-winning actress, it’s definitely quite different than you’d expect out of a Disney film of the same name:

Comments have been disabled on the YouTube video, presumably to avoid a flurry of viewers noting how bad this movie looks. We’ll gladly wait for Disney’s version instead.

  1. It’s sad that they’re calling it “The Little Mermaid” when they actually have an original story unique from the original fairy-tale. Obviously this is just a ploy to get people talking about their movie, and sell DVDs to people not paying attention.

    1. Yes I want go see the litte mermaid Miove

  2. The Tony

I think I actually want to see this. I mean who doesn’t a train wreck movie every once in a while?

  3. If Disney “really” is plotting to choose Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) to be Prince Eric, I’m gonna lose it. My god it would be worse than anything above and beyond. It’s bad enough they already chosen Emma Watson to be Belle, but for god sakes Disney give it up already. Leave my favorite characters alone !!! (Oh’ Daniel Radcliffe I hope your not next).

  4. DISNEY PLEASE DON’T CHOOSE DANIEL RADCLIFFE TO BE ERIC !!!! I’LL DO ANYTHING IF YOU REALLY ARE PLANNING TO DO THAT, I WILL BE SEVERLY DEPRESSED !!!! PLEASE DON’T LET HIM BE NEXT !!! (My entire life will be failed to pieces) ;..(..

Doesn’t look bad at all, looks like a nice pleasant family film. But it’s not Disney’s one so your going to piss all over it….. Um, bitter much? By the way, the story of the Little Mermaid was around a LONG time before Disney was around.
