Have Some Fun Sticking to Those New Year’s Resolutions: Disney Park Walking Distances

The holiday hoopla (HOOPLA) is behind us and the new year has begun. Many have enjoyed the feasts and treats of the season and are now ready to enact those New Year’s Resolutions for getting into better shape. That task can be a fun and entertaining experience when paired with a trip to one of Walt Disney World’s Central Florida theme parks.

Dust off those hiking shoes or comfy sneakers and set a course for any of the area’s attractions to get those walking miles logged. As a way of wishing all of our readers, a happy and healthy New Year, Inside the Magic has a breakdown of just how much walking (in miles) can be achieved in a walk around the park.

Disney Springs:  To circumnavigate the renovated Downtown Disney district now known as Disney Springs, start at the Art of Disney area and walk all the way around Cirque Du Soliel and back – earn just under 2 miles (1.83) and give yourself bonus points for managing to avoid the temptations of the many sumptuous food venues.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios: When including the side stroll to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, taking the tour around the park’s perimeter paths (Hollywood Blvd, Sunset Blvd, Animation Courtyard, Pixar, Streets of America, Echo Lake and back to the entrance) picks up 1.39 miles.

Epcot
Epcot: A steady stroll around two worlds of Epcot (Future World East, West on return – instead of down the center) yields about 3 miles (2.78) of steps and gives a pleasant view of the various host pavilions of World Showcase and Showcase Lagoon.

Magic Kingdom: Taking a turn around the themed lands of the Magic Kingdom, starting and ending on Main Street (keeping right on to Tomorrowland, through Dumbo’s Circus up and around Fantasyland, along the Rivers of America in Frontierland and through Adventureland) is around 2 miles of walking (2.17 to be exact).

Disney’s Animal Kingdom: 2.27 miles can be achieved wandering all of the paths of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Don’t forget to hike the Pangani Forest Exploration trail!

Each of these summaries only estimates what a single walk around a particular park might be. Going back and forth between attractions and adventures can yield as many as 10 or more miles a day, with a bonus of some amazing attractions and views when taking a break (or rewarding yourself for accomplishing a set mileage goal).
