We all know it may be blasphemy to even remotely assume that anybody could take the scoring spotlight away from composer John Williams — after all, the guy has been making the music of the Star Wars films since the 70’s, among countless other classic films. Well, fans maybe whistling a different tune when they hear the score for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story composed lovingly by Michael Giacchino.

The official Star Wars YouTube page has released the full video containing highlights from the scoring of the film, releasing this Friday. The video kicks off with director Gareth Edwards thanking the musicians in the room for their service and how phenomenal of inexperience it has been for him. Then we get to see them in action, and it’s a thing of beauty. As a gamer, I get very fond callbacks of the main theme for Dragon Age Inquisition (around the 1:33 mark), also scored by Giacchino but with that classic and respectful nod to the musical brand that John Williams has created over so many years.
