Even with Central Florida practically overrun with the latest and greatest tech in several major theme parks, it’s nice to know there’s always room for a classic wooden roller coaster. Fun Spot America in Kissimmee announced today will be adding an as-yet-unnamed coaster that will be 2,256 feet long, as tall as 82 feet high, and with a top speed of 48.5 mph, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Scheduled to open in the summer of 2017, the theme park told the Orlando Sentinel it is investing $6 million into the project and will be the only “wooden coaster in the Southeast U.S. to include a 360-degree barrel roll,” according to John Arie Jr., Fun Spot CEO. Fun Spot’s other location near International Drive already claims to have Orlando’s only wooden coaster with White Lightning, which opened in 2013.

“We have worked tirelessly with the Gravity Group to design a ride that will be a must-ride coaster for any thrill seeker and coaster enthusiast, definitely bucket-list worthy,” he said. Gravity Group is doing the design work for the project.

There is a lot to like about wooden coasters as they offer a unique ride experience and if it’s as thrilling as Fun Spot is claiming it will be, the new attraction will definitely have lots of appeal for everyone.
