FAV 5: Adam’s Top 5 Favorite Snacks at the Walt Disney World Resort

in Disney, Theme Parks, Walt Disney World

I’m going to level with you guys: this may have been one of the hardest lists I’ve had to create since starting work here at Inside the Magic. If there’s one thing that every Disney park is known for, it’s their special attention to the culinary arts. Every single park has their signature foods, snacks, and anything else to get the saliva flowing. But given the charming gimmick of the FAV 5 listicle, I’ve narrowed my favorite Walt Disney World snacks to five. Seriously folks, my “runner up” List has about 20 yummy morsels of greatness — this was tough.

There are a ton of hidden snackable gems scattered around the parks, and I know my list seems pretty basic. But of all the delicious treasures available to the world of Orlando tourism, these are always the Disney snacks that I fall back on when I’m with friends. Also, four out of five of these are desserts. This is not a mistake…I’m a big guy and Florida is a living furnace. The colder, the better for somebody like me!

So, without further ado, these are my top five favorite snacks at the Walt Disney World Resort:

The Turkey Leg

There are two types of people in this world: those who can chow down on an entire turkey leg in the middle of a theme park, and those who can't. Honestly, even if it's not an every day occurrence, you owe it to yourself to shove one of these bad boys in your face at some point in your life. They are available in a few of the Disney parks, and every bite is packed with the smoky flavor that so many have come to know and love. Are you worried about looking gross and having grease all over your face in front of your family and friends?...Well, stop making codependent choices and eat a damn turkey leg. The only thing that matters in this equation is you and your appetite. For awesomeness.

Dole Whip

It would be sacrilegious to not put Dole Whip on this list. After all, the pineapple delight has been a staple of the Disney parks for years and remains to this day a tradition for many families that visit said parks. On those hot summer days, you and your friends can just dive into this "anytime" dessert and live the dream. I guess it goes without saying: if Disney and Dole ever break up, we riot.

The Grey Stuff

"It's delicious!" No... really though, this desert will rock your taste buds into next week. Served appropriately at the Magic Kingdom's "Be Our Guest" restaurant, The Grey Stuff is a kind of whip -- a grey mousse, if you will. A smattering of delectable flavors garnished with candy pearls and a tiny chocolate slab. There's really not much else to say about this desert, other than the fact that you should have already had about five by now. And if you haven't, make your way over to Walt Disney World and fight diabetes like a daredevil.

The Kitchen Sink

Only available at Beaches and Cream in the Disney's Beach Club resort, The kitchen sink is not only the biggest ice cream sundae you've ever had in your life, but it's actually served in a kitchen sink. No, really. This thing would keep a family of four fed for a couple of days -- if they were awesome enough to only eat dessert when they should be balancing proteins and vegetables. Cherries, brownies, Oreo cookies, oranges, cake, and anything else you could imagine being topped onto a giant bowl of ice cream make this dessert a "can't miss" at the Walt Disney World resort. But if you think you have the capacity to handle one all on your own, I would recommend heading over to the Haunted Mansion so they can prepare your tombstone. It's a doozy!

The Mickey Bar

Ahhh old faithful. Probably the first desert you ever had when you first went to the Magic Kingdom, and the last you will physically be able to consume as your teeth rot away from eating so many. The Mickey Bar has always been a notable delight of the Disney Parks, and the satisfaction is all in your eating strategy: I personally start from the sides, biting off those corners, and rip away all the chocolate until there's just a melty, mouse shaped vanilla husk impaled uncomfortably on that wooden stick. Yum! Then I just go to town on the ice cream and call it a day. However you choose to eat your Mickey Bar, there's no denying that it's stuck around for a reason -- and that reason is us.

There are so many other phenomenal snacks available annually and seasonally at the Walt Disney World Resort, and it would honestly be impossible (or at least downright tedious) to lay them all out. So I want to hear from you! Feel free to lay out below your favorite snacks at the Orlando Disney parks, and stick with Inside the Magic for all things delicious and magical!
