Disney has announced intentions to begin another construction project at their Hollywood Studios park. As the Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land expansions progress, the park is preparing for an increase in guest traffic by expanding the parking lots for greater capacity. It is said that the project will be active over a few years, and guests will soon see a conveyor structure of sorts being put in place that will shift soil across World Drive and into the park.

Meanwhile, a third parking garage is now being discussed for Disney Springs. Conceptual architecture and engineering designs are currently being pursued by the Reedy Creek Improvement District. The third garage is to be situated across from the Lime garage on Buena Vista Drive. A definite number of parking spaces has not been determined, but Reedy Creek District Administrator, John Classe, noted in an email that at least 2000 spaces would be included. A pedestrian bridge that would cross Buena Vista Drive and connect the two garages is a part of the discussions as well.

There has been a considerable amount of focus on the roadways and parking in the last years as Disney has pursued its many projects. Two parking garages, two pedestrian bridges, the widening of Buena Vista Drive, an I4 ramp extension, various new roadways to other guest areas and the removal of the Richard Petty Driving Experience in the interest of “transportation improvements” have all been a part of the growth.
