in Disney, Entertainment, Marvel, Movies, Movies & TV

Television, movies, video games, product jingles — we all have a million little tunes circling around in our skulls day in and day out. But what if you were asked to hum a theme from any Marvel Studios movie? Would you be able to hum any of them? Immediately, the theme from The Avengers comes to mind, but not much else.

Off the top of your head, could you sing the theme from Star Wars? How about James Bond? Or Harry Potter? But here’s the kicker: can you sing any theme from a Marvel film? Despite 13 films and 10 billion dollars at the box office, the Marvel Cinematic Universe lacks a distinctive musical identity or approach. So let’s try to answer the question: what is missing from Marvel music?

Every Frame A Painting created this fascinating video which breaks down the importance of a passionate, well thought out film score. Check it out below, and expand your musical world a little:

So what do you think? Should the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies put a little more love into their scores? Let me know what you think in the comments below and stick with Inside the Magic for all things fun and awesome!

You could hum it if you’ve had the Alan Silvestri Avengers 1 theme beaten into your head after several hours (or weeks) playing Lego Marvel Avengers…
    (dun-dun, da-da dun-dun…Daaa, DAA da da-da da DAH daahh….)

But, yeah, movie scores pretty much died in the 90’s the day Hans Zimmer started writing.

The only one I found memorable was the score for Thor. It felt different from the rest imo.
