Walt Disney World offers direct bus service from theme parks to Disney Springs

It’s been awhile since we’ve seen direct transportation service between Walt Disney World’s theme parks and its shopping quarter, but the service is finally back in a limited capacity.

Disney is now offering service from its theme parks to Disney Springs after 4pm. I don’t think the logic behind it is hard to follow. After all, Disney Springs is the property’s nighttime district. It makes sense to facilitate movement from the main gates to their locale for nightlife. This way it’s less likely that guests will go exploring outside of Disney property when the theme parks close, and that is always a goal of the Walt Disney Company.

The truth is that it is an incredible convenience for guests as well. Prior to this change, park guests who didn’t have their own vehicles had two choices if they wanted to get to Disney Springs in the evenings. They could either get on a bus destined for a Walt Disney World resort and THEN switch to a bus that would take them to Disney Springs, or they could pay for a taxi to take them there directly. The issue of time and/or money required for these options certainly wasn’t enticing, but now those issues are irrelevant. Disney’s complimentary and direct bus service meets the needs of guests wanting to cap their evening with shopping, dining, and live entertainment.

It’s important to keep in mind that the service is only one way. The buses from Disney Springs do not return to the parks. They transport guests to the Disney resorts, and that is it. This means that you can’t expect to easily return to your vehicle if it is left in a theme park lot. It also means that you can’t directly return to a park for a late firework show or Fast Pass reservation. Once you are at Disney Springs, getting back to a theme park is a tad more complex.

Nevertheless, this renewed service provided by Disney is a welcome one. Any step in the direction of convenience is a step in the right direction.
