Toothsome Chocolate Emporium offers up a perfect mix of Steampunk theming and affordable dining at Universal Orlando

in Food, Theme Parks, Universal CityWalk, Universal Orlando

Universal Orlando CityWalk’s newest restaurant experience finally opened its doors yesterday for a preview. Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen is taking the place of the old NBA City Restaurant and is definitely bringing you that ‘Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory’ vibe. During this preview the restaurant will offer a limited number of guests the opportunity to get a sneak peek as they put together the finishing touches on the experience in preparation for its official opening, which is yet to be announced. During this time, the restaurant will be open on a limited, unscheduled basis.

I call Toothsome Chocolate Emporium an experience as this place is not just a mere restaurant but also a place where you can enjoy a heavily themed Steampunk environment, pick up unique treats in their gift shop/confectionery and meet and greet with some special characters.

Lets take a closer look at what Toothsome Chocolate Emporium has to offer!

The main dining area, the ‘Savory Feast Kitchen’, is an expansive two-level room decorated with plenty of Steampunk flair and chocolate factory feeling. The sights and sounds of working gears, smokestacks and manufacturing will immediately surround you. The dark industrial theming will definitely make you feel like you stepped into another world and the hosts dressed in alternative fashions helps further that feeling.

The upstairs dining room also features a bar and dining with a view looking out over Universal Orlando.

While enjoying your meal you will have the nice surprise of characters Doctor Professor Penelope and her robot assistant Jaques visiting your table. Jaques is very unique on the character scene as both his speaking voice and movements are robotic.

The menu features twists on classic steak, seafood and pasta entrees, gourmet burgers, sandwiches, incredible salads, all-day brunch for a surprisingly affordable amount. Usually with these type of full-service theme park restaurants you expect the prices to be a little more expensive and I was happily surprised to enjoy a nice sit-down meal for under $25.

The desserts are the main event here though with incredibly huge sundaes and milkshakes taking up a big part of the menu. Make sure you leave room for one of these creations!

The second part of the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium is the ‘Dessert Foundry’ quick-service. Here you can order desserts such as milkshakes, sundaes and crepes and enjoy them in at the indoor or outdoor sitting area.

Visiting the third part of the Emporium, the ‘Candy Smith’ gift shop/confectionery, is where your ‘Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory’ dreams will come true. Chocolate, candy and souvenirs can be found in every corner of this shop all wrapped in unique packaging such as glass apothecary bottles and mason jars. This shop clearly takes its inspirations from the themed candy shops in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

The confectionery section of the shops offers up chocolate, macarons and candies with interesting flavors such as absinthe, rum and bourbon.

All in all I would say that the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium should definitely be put on your must do list if you enjoy expertly themed environments and you have a sweet tooth.

  1. This place looks cool! The food looks delicious! & the desserts and milkshakes R 2 die 4! Makes me wanna have chocolate right now

This place looks totally awesome. But… please can someone explain the intention with the name “Toothsome”? Is it some sort of pun, or play on words? Is it a play on the words “awesome” and “tooth”? If so, why “tooth?” What does that have to do with chocolate? Because of the cavities it’ll create? I don’t understand it and I want to!

    1. Alex

Toothsome is just a (rather old) word meaning tempting or delicious.

Or it could mean it some teeth! 😛
        Sorry I couldn’t resist.
