It’s been discussed in hushed tones over second breakfast, murmured about in the halls for Minas Tirith and now the time has come to reveal the epic gathering descending on October 4th: A complete 30-disc collection of all six extended editions of Peter Jackson’s vision of Middle Earth.

Each film is housed within a leather-like bound book-style case, six in total  — one for each cinematic chapter of both “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings” — nestled in a specially crafted Hobbit style display stand. Along with the director’s cut of both film series and over 30 hours of extras, the Ultimate Collection includes a replica of the Red Book of Westmarch (in which Bilbo chronicled his adventures). This 100-page volume is stocked with “original film artwork and concept art” according to the Amazon listing and has a special resting place under the Blu-ray ‘books’ on the special shelf.  Rounding out the collection are reproductions of maps used in the films.
