Finger lathering good? KFC gives away Extra Crispy Sunscreen

in Food

In what may be the weirdest marketing gimmick in fast food history, Kentucky Fried Chicken offered REAL sunscreen that smelled like fried chicken!  Take the picnic to the beach without all the mess and fuss of real food.

In one of his many incarnations (seriously, how many different Colonel Sanders ARE we up to now), the somewhat creepy Colonel touts the benefits of his new product in a cheesy YouTube video and on the KFC website.

Unfortunately (or is that fortunately?) the free fried chicken lotion is all gone, according to the KFC site, they’ve run out of the lotion.  Too bad, it’d be interesting to see (and smell) the product in use at the local beach – and betting on a recreation of a scene from Hitchcock’s ‘The Birds’ as a side effect from the fowl smelling lotion.

Available for a limited time only. Side effects may include the Extra Crispy™ lifestyle and smelling like fried chicken. KFC® Extra Crispy™ Sunscreen is an actual product. KFC® Extra Crispy™ Sunscreen is not a food product. NOT a food product. Do not eat this product. Even though this product smells delicious, it is not delicious. The only skin that should be extra crispy this summer is on your fried chicken.KFC website

We have to wonder what’s next? Will KFC double down with mash potatoes and gravy soap?
