Disney’s ‘Newsies’ musical performance coming to movie theaters, star Jeremy Jordan rumored to return

The Tony Award-winning musical ‘Newsies’ will be coming to the big screen in 2017, according to EW.com. This will be a one-night-only performance of the current production that will be filmed before a live audience and then screened at cinemas worldwide in early 2017. The joint efforts by Disney Theatrical Productions and Fathom Events have made this dream come true for musical fanatics!

Jeremy Jordan is rumored to reprise his role as the newsboy leader Jack Kelly just for this production. Plenty of his follow cast members are also expected to return for the movie like Kara Lindsay (as Katherine), Ben Fankhauser (as Davey), and Andrew Keenan-Bolger (as Crutchie).

The performance that will be taped live at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood on Sept. 11th in front of an invited audience.

The musical ‘Newsies’ is inspired by the 1992 Disney movie by the same name and starred Christian Bale. The musical had a very successful run on Broadway between March 2012 and August 2014 with the help of Disney famous composer Alan Menken.
