San Diego Comic-Con is Nerd Mecca. That’s what I said on my recent “SDCC Preview” guest appearance on the movie podcast Battleship Pretension (warning: some NSFW language,) and I stand by it.
Every year over a hundred thousand proud dorks, geeks, and every brand of nerd you can imagine descend on the Gaslamp District of Downtown San Diego for a four-and-a-half-day feast of all things pop culture, and it just doesn’t get any better. If that’s the kind of thing you’re into, of course.

Comic-Con is home to booths from every major movie/television/video game/comic book production company, panels on all your favorite “genre” films and shows, merchandise from every franchise you can name, and an almost-impenetrable wall of people enjoying it all.
Although the Con runs Thursday through Friday in mid-to-late July, it also includes a Wednesday evening “Preview Night” that allows convention-goers to get a short taste of what to expect throughout their weekend. Take a look at the videos below for just a small sample of what I’m talking about. If you haven’t experienced it for yourself, it almost defies description.

I’ll be reporting from SDCC for the remainder of the week, and I’ll be attending as many events and panels as I can. I’ll also post video and photos of as many of the interesting Exhibit Hall booths and off-site attractions as humanly possible, so stay tuned to Inside the Magic for four more days of non-stop Comic Con fun!
