‘Finding Dory’ is now the highest-grossing animated movie ever in the US

It has been quite the year for Disney and Pixar with record after record being broken. Now Pixar’s latest venture “Finding Dory” has grabbed itself yet another milestone according to Business Insider.

After just five weeks in movie theaters, “Finding Dory” has won the title of the highest-grossing domestic animated movie in the US ever. The much-anticipated sequel has so far raked in $445.5 million in the box office and grabbed the top spot away from “Shrek 2”, which was the winner of the title since the movie came out in 2004.

We previously reported on how ‘Finding Dory’ also is the top domestic earner of the year, having surpassed “Captain America: Civil War” ($406.5 million) last week.

‘Finding Dory’ is also a success overseas with the worldwide gross creeping closer and closer to $1 billion.
