Dr. David John Marley holds the honor of being the first college professor ever to teach an officially-sanctioned class on the history of Disneyland. He also worked as a Jungle Cruise Skipper for several years at the park, and is currently writing a book entitled “Skipper Stories: True Tales from Disneyland’s Jungle Cruise,” which will be the first full-length oral history of a specific Disney attraction.
Last month Dr. Marley brought his expertise and unique sense of humor to the Fullerton Arboretum in Orange County, California to impart some of his fascinating knowledge on the early years of Disneyland’s geography and plant life. He also revealed fun behind-the-scenes stories about the cast member culture surrounding the Jungle Cruise.
