Disney has officially begun casting for “High School Musical 4”, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The last installment in the hugely successful franchise was released back in 2006 and it’s been a decade since the first movie debuted on Disney Channel and made stars out of Zach Efron and Vanessa Hudgens.

Now Disney Channel has begun searching for a fresh cast for a new group of students attending East High and crosstown rivals West High Knights.

Peter Barsocchini, who wrote the first three movies, is returning to co-write the latest movie along with Dan Berendsen. Jeffrey Hornaday (Disney Channel’s Teen Beach Movie, Teen Beach 2) is attached to direct and choreograph.

With a nationwide casting search now underway, Disney is encouraging those wishing to find out more about future open casting call opportunities to visit their site for the latest news.
