The legendary Patti LaBelle to appear at Epcot for Black History Month

in Disney, Events, Theme Parks, Walt Disney World

Disney Parks Blog has a fantastic update about the weekly author’s series celebrating Black History Month at Epcot. Legendary Grammy-award winning singer, actress and NY Times best-selling author Patti LaBelle will be making a special appearance. The event will be held at the American Adventure Pavilion on February 20th from 12:30 to 1:30 pm for book signings and meet and greets with fans.

For those who don’t know LaBelle and her fruitful career, she’s also the star of her own cooking television series “Patti LaBelle’s Place,” and has cookbooks packed to the brim with southern-style recipes.

But Patti isn’t the only acclaimed personality to be gracing the park: Terrence Roberts, Ph.D. will be appearing on February 27th from 1:00–2:00 pm and 3:00–4:00 pm. He’s one of the “ Little Rock Nine”, a group of history-making African-American students who were the first black students ever to attend classes at Little Rock Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1957. He also wrote “Lessons from Little Rock” a memoir of his experience during the integration of the school, and was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal in 1999.

Pretty neat, right?
