PHOTOS: Walls erected around Rivers of America, Hungry Bear Restaurant in Disneyland’s Critter Country for Star Wars construction

If you’ve visited Disneyland at all since the end of the holiday season, you know that a lot of changes have taken place, especially in the areas that are affected by the early stages of construction for the huge Star Wars expansion coming to the park.

One of those areas is in the rear left-hand corner of the park, on the ‘Rivers of America’ side of Critter Country. The bank of the river has been walled up, preventing guests from seeing across to Tom Sawyer Island, and the eating areas of the Hungry Bear Restaurant have been similarly partitioned.

UPDATED WITH NEW SIGNAGE AND LIGHTING:

In just one week since the original walls went up, new signage was added (including some throwback poster art for the attractions in the surround areas) along with some new lighting fixtures. The fence near the restrooms was also made taller, in order to block the view of the construction area!

Pay special attention to the Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes refurbishment sign for a little nod of acknowledgment to the reason for all of this renovation…

WATCH:

As there has been no official announcement yet as to when Star Wars Land construction will be complete, we don’t know quite yet how long these walls will remain standing, but it will be very interesting to see how this area begins to evolve over (at least) the next year and a half.
