A new retelling of the classic tale of Tarzan gets a fresh spin by Warner Bros., which has released the first images of next year’s “The Legend of Tarzan” starring Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood).
The plot, according to Variety, follows the “title character who, after acclimating to life in London, is called back to his former home in the jungle to investigate the activities at a mining encampment”.
“It’s almost the opposite of the classic tale, where it’s about taming the beast,” Skarsgard told USA Today. “This is about a man who’s holding back and slowly as you peel off the layers, he reverts back to a more animalistic state and lets that side of his personality out.”
The first teaser trailer, running two minutes, went online on Wednesday.
Additionally, Warner Bros. also released the first movie poster for the film.
No Tarzan movie would be complete without Jane, who is played by Margot Robbie, and also co-stars Samuel L. Jackson as George Washington Williams, Christoph Waltz as Captain Leon Rom and Djimon Hounsou as Chief Mbenga.
Comicbook.com has the first images of the movie with Tarzan and Jane out in the wild.
“The Legend of Tarzan” is directed by David Yates and is set to be released in U.S. theaters on July 1, 2016.
