London’s famed West End will soon see the premiere of Disney’s Aladdin musical with the news that the wildly successful Broadway show will open there on June 9, 2016.

“In 1992, Howard Ashman, Alan Menken and Tim Rice’s reimagining of the Aladdin tale became the biggest movie of the year around the globe. Now 23 years later, Casey Nicholaw’s production lifts a whole new audience and sends them home on air,” Thomas Schumacher President and Producer, Disney Theatrical Productions told Broadway World. “We are thrilled to fly Aladdin’s carpet to London where the show has found its ideal home in Cameron Mackintosh’s stunning Prince Edward Theatre.”

Tickets will go on general sale soon on November 23, 2015.

In the two years it has been at the New Amsterdam Theatre, more than one million people have seen it. Shows also began at Tokyo’s Dents Shiki Theatre Umi in May 2015. It will open in December 2015 in Hamburg, Germany at the Stage Theatre Neue Flora and in Sydney, Australia in 2016.
