Tour Guide Tuesday: Meet 10 Characters In 90 Minutes And The Magic Kingdom!

in Park Secrets, Walt Disney World

Tinker Bell

Mickey Mouse

Up to this point, most of my “save time” articles have focused on seeing the most attractions in the least amount of time. Today, I want to talk about a good way to meet many Disney characters in a short amount of time. Many Guests have young children who enjoy characters more than rides. Also, when spending multiple days at the Magic Kingdom, one day can be character-centered. Whatever the case, I’m going to discuss how you can start your day visiting 10 characters in only 90 minutes, with little or no waiting for any of them.

First off, you will want to reserve some FastPasses in advance. For this formula to work well, grab Ariel FastPasses for the first hour of the day and either Cinderella/Rapunzel or Anna/Elsa (if you’re lucky) for the second hour.

Tinker Bell

After entering the Park, go right to Town Square Theater and meet either Mickey or Tinker Bell using the standby line. Neither one should have more than a 10 minutes wait at Park opening. From there, you should head to Fantasyland and Ariel’s Grotto. If the wait to meet her is posted at 15 minutes or less, you can use the standby line and change your FastPasses to something else.

Ariel's Grotto

From Ariel’s Grotto, you should head around the corner into Storybook Circus to the holy grail of character meets. I’m talking about Pete’s Silly Sideshow. This area usually opens 45 minutes after Park opening and features Donald, Goofy, Daisy, and Minnie dressed in their circus attire. If you are at that spot when it opens, you should see all 4 characters in under 20 minutes. If you arrive with 10 or 15 minutes to spare, you can hop on Dumbo or Barnstormer for a quick ride before meeting the circus characters. So, now you would have visited a total of 6, and you’ve only been in the Park for about an hour.

Petes

It is time to head to the center of Fantasyland and use your princess FastPass from Pete’s. It normally doesn’t take more than 15 minutes to see either Cinderella and Rapunzel or Anna and Elsa with FastPasses.

Your last “2 for 1” comes in the form of Chip and Dale. These furry friends can be found in Frontierland, not far from the Diamond Horseshoe. You typically don’t have to wait more than about 10 minutes to meet them. If you are feeling ambitious, it is a short walk to Adventureland, where you can meet Aladdin and Jasmine. After that, you can even head over to Splash Mountain, where you might find Woody and Jessie. You may find yourself waiting a little longer for those last 4, but now you are talking about seeing 14 characters before many Guests even arrive at the Park!
