Inside the newly renovated Swan & Dolphin hotel rooms at Walt Disney World

The Swan & Dolphin hotel is in the midst of renovating its hundreds of hotel rooms, a vast improvement over the previous accommodations.

The project began with the Swan, which will wrap up at the end of this month. At that time, all of its rooms will feature an invitingly fresh new color scheme, new furniture and bedding, and an overall more modern and comfortable look and feel.

Take a tour:

I had a chance to spend a couple nights inside one of the Swan’s corner rooms recently and found it to be a nice home away from home. The bedding is cozy with both ultra-firm and ultra-cushy pillows. A small desk is handy for getting work done if needed, especially with the rather fast included high-speed WiFi internet connection available. The bedroom area has a large flat screen TV, as does the living area, which features ample seating as well. The stand-up shower is spacious and its two shower heads (one handheld, one overhead rain style) certainly get the job done, complemented by terrycloth robes to enjoy afterward. All in all, it’s quite a nice night’s stay.

The rest of the grounds definitely still appear rather dated, from the typical Florida shades of pastel pinks and greens to the good, but not exciting pool areas. Fortunately, the hotel’s restaurants make up for all that, featuring an excellent buffet breakfast and exquisite dinner options including Shula’s and Todd English’s bluezoo.

The entire room upgrade project won’t be done for another couple years, wrapping up in 2017 when they complete all the Dolphin room renovations.
