Yesterday Walt Disney World celebrated the 25th anniversary of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Originally Disney-MGM Studios, the theme park offered guests visiting on the special day some extra entertainment including a booming fireworks finale.

It all took place in the midst of a massive 3-day press event focused on Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and MyMagic+. Though the anniversary events were not part of the media’s itinerary, we received some pictures and video to share thanks to DisneyLifestylers.com and WDW Guided Tours.

Guests entering the park received commemorative buttons and park maps.

The morning began with the Citizens of Hollywood entertaining the crowd.

then the park’s vice president Dan Cockerell taking the stage in front of the giant Sorcerer Hat, welcoming 25-year cast members and a few characters.

A guest who had been there when the park opened 25 years ago was also honored by placing her hands in concrete.

Special merchandise was available throughout the day along with a 25th anniversary cupcake.

Near the end of the day, a small motorcade of characters rolled through the park, including Sofia the First, Woody and Jessie, Indiana Jones, Phineas and Ferb, Mr. Incredible and Frozone, and Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

The highlight of the day was the fireworks finale, blending a few of the past shows with some extra big bangs to cap off the anniversary evening.
