Gringotts

The owl post made a special delivery at my doorstep early this morning with a mysterious package from Universal Orlando, fulfilling a promise they made via e-mail just yesterday to share “exciting news” about the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley.

Inside the delivered nondescript white box was another box, deep red in color, wrapped in twine with a note affixed on top stamped by the Bank of Gringotts.

Within the outer box was another box, this one far more ornate, carefully crafted of cherry wood, stamped with the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley logo on top.

Opening its golden latches revealed a shiny metal key to Gringotts Vault 722.

The note was an invitation to use the code “722” at GringottsVaultKey.com to unlock new details for an upcoming live webcast about the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley.

Ultimately that unlocked a video starring James Phelps, who portrayed Fred Weasley in the “Harry Potter” films announcing a webcast will be held on January 23, 2014, to reveal more information about Diagon Alley.

But don’t be fooled by what appears to be a completed Diagon Alley in the video behind Phelps. The video was shot on the original Diagon Alley set, currently part of the Warner Brothers Studio Tour in London. Diagon Alley is still very much under construction in Orlando.

The “722” refers to Project 722, the code name for the Diagon Alley project at Universal Studios Florida. Whether or not a key like this will become merchandise sold within Diagon Alley is unknown at this point, but there will surely be many unique products available for sale when it opened in 2014.

Though this message was intended for media members, everyone else can sign up to view the webcast at this link.

Check back here on January 23, 2014, for more details!
