When it was announced in September that the famous Disney Soda Fountain on Hollywood Boulevard would close to be replaced by another in a long line of Ghirardelli locations, many fans were upset that they’d lose the charm this unique spot had to offer. But this week the new Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop has opened its doors to reveal plenty of Disney touches still remaining across the Disney Studio Store.
Beginning with the marquee outside, it’s clear Disney’s name is still big in this Hollywood shop, located next to the El Capitan Theatre. But Ghirardelli’s name is even bigger, making the new brand quite clear.
But despite being a Ghirardelli location at heart, Disney characters and artwork are still found throughout, from the outside windows currently promoting “Frozen” to the Mickey Mouse murals and merchandise inside.
And yes, there are still plenty of Disney pins.
Stepping further in, it’s a typical Ghirardelli location with chocolates galore, ice cream to order, and free samples.
Ghirardelli wants every fan to know that Disney traditions will continue despite the name change, including special sundaes in honor of new film releases. They have simply moved in to take over the areas they know the best, serving up delicious sweet treats, leaving the rest of the area dedicated to Disney.
