A Halloween Horror Nights USB drive, featuring Universal’s iconic branding, is embedded in a gruesome red textured prop—an immersive and mysterious media invite setting the stage for Universal Orlando’s legendary haunt event.

To make sure we’re ahead of the game, Universal Orlando dropped a gruesome gift on our doorstep this afternoon, officially offering an invitation to this Friday’s opening night of Halloween Horror Nights 2013.

This year’s media gift is no exception to the annual tradition of sending particularly preposterous packages to build hype for Halloween Horror Nights. When the large heavy brown box showed up, I could only imagine what I’d find inside.

The “brain surgery” message on the included note is a reference to last year’s gift, which required even more hands-on attention to get to the media kit buried within a rotten skull. This year’s head seems to be a bit more fresh, still squishy and covered in bloody flesh. Despite featuring a few marks atop its head, there is nothing inside this time.
