A new character has joined the line-up of must-see Disney meet-and-greets and for the first time ever he’s from the world of Marvel. Captain America made his character debut at the 2013 D23 Expo in the “Journey Into Imagination” pavilion, home of Disney Parks and Resorts.

In this first-ever public appearance by a Marvel character since Disney bought the comic company in 2009, Captain America brought his nice guy attitude with a healthy dose of military knowhow while generously smiling for pictures with attending press during a preview evening. I even had a chance to ask him a few questions, as seen in the video below.

Though Cap isn’t going to be meeting guests inside a Disney theme park any time soon, he will be throughout the duration of the Expo, then moving on to Disney Cruise Line where he’ll join his fellow superheroes in Marvel’s Avengers Academy kids area aboard the soon-to-be refurbished Disney Magic ship.

Also set to appear at the D23 Expo are fellow Marvel characters Spider-Man and Iron Man from Disney XD’s “Marvel Universe” animated TV show.
