This weekend the Disneyland Resort brought Hollywood to Hollywood Land by rolling out the red carpet for the world premiere of “The Lone Ranger.”
On Saturday, June 22, 2013, the Disney California Adventure theme park’s iconic Hollywood Boulevard was lined with thousands of park guests cheering for the film’s stars, filmmakers, and celebrities, including headliners Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer, who play Tonto and John Reid – the Lone Ranger. The Lone Ranger’s horse Silver even made an appearance along with the actual train engine built for the film.
We sent Paul Barrie of Window to the Magic to cover the event, capturing all the celebrity arrivals and character appearances, from the moment the first steps onto the red carpet to Johnny Depp finally being whisked away by his bodyguards after signing countless autographs and taking plenty of pictures.

Fans lined up outside the park early in the morning, some overnight, to grab the best spots along the red carpet winding down Buena Vista Street leading to the Hyperion Theater where the film made its debut. Those wanting to actually attend that screening, not just stand on the streets, even bought $1,000 tickets to walk the carpet, see the film, and mingle with celebrities during an after party held in Cars Land, followed by an exclusive showing of World of Color. Ticket sales from the event benefitted the American Indian College Fund.
Appearing at the event from the film were Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, Ruth Wilson, Damon Herriman, Matt O’Leary, JD Cullum, Harry Treadaway, Bryant Prince, Mason Cook, Saginaw Grant, Joaquin Cosio, and Robert Baker along with filmmakers Jerry Bruckheimer (producer), Gore Verbinski (director/producer), Justin Haythe (screenwriter), Ted Elliott, Terry Rossio (executive producers/screenwriters), Mike Stenson, Chad Oman, Eric Ellenbogen, Eric McLeod (executive producers), Craig Wood, James Haygood (editors), Bojan Bazelli (DP), Hans Zimmer (composer), Penny Rose (costume designer), and Joel Harlow (makeup).
Special celebrity guests included Andy Garcia, Emma Roberts, Marg Helgenberger, Joely Fisher, Dominic Monaghan, Joey King, Laura Marano, Bellamy Young, Cal Ripken, Corbin Bleu, Kylie Bunbury, Sharna Burgess, Cheryl Burke, Dove Cameron, Charisma Carpenter, Guillermo Diaz, Derek Hough, Vanessa Marano, Steven R. McQueen, Lana Parrilla, Tyler Posey, Lisa Rinna, Karina Smirnoff, Leah Thompson, and many more. (See how many you can spot in the red carpet video above and photos below.)
The film’s main cast and crew gathered for a photo moment in front of the train, showered with “Lone Ranger” badges, before heading in to see the film.
Inside the Hyperion Theater, “The Lone Ranger” was shown in high-definition with projections provided by Christie Digital. The film is a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes as Native American warrior Tonto recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid, a man of the law, into a legend of justice—taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.
Following the screening, celebrities and ticketed guests made their way to Cars Land for dessert and fun that included rides on Radiator Springs Racers and Luigi’s Flying Tires.
“The Lone Ranger” rides into theaters on July 2, 2013.
