South Pole Chill exclusive Coke drink to be offered in Antarctica with high-tech ‘Cup That Cares’ at SeaWorld Orlando

Universal Orlando has Butterbeer. Walt Disney World has LeFou’s Brew. And now SeaWorld’s Antarctica will have the South Pole Chill.

It’s not quite a “signature drink,” but today SeaWorld Orlando announced they will be serving an exclusive Coca-Cola Freestyle flavor only in Antarctica when it officially opens May 24. The flavor is described as “vanilla-infused” and will be offered among more than 100 different beverage brands in the popular all-in-one machine.

But the high-tech drinks don’t stop there as SeaWorld has also created the “Cup That Cares” – a new reusable and interactive cup designed to connect with Coke Freestyle machines to reuse materials and reduce carbon footprint.

An RFID chip embedded in each Cup That Cares interacts with software at Coca-Cola Freestyle dispensers to calculate and tell guests how they are being more environmentally responsible by choosing to reuse. Technology embedded in the Cup That Cares calculates the amount of CO2 each guest saves from entering the atmosphere when they choose to reuse the cup for refills, thanking guests in an onscreen message while tracking how many refills the Cup That Cares has been used for. Each refill with a reusable cup prevents the emission of approximately 27 grams of CO2.

There are two cup options, both available exclusively in SeaWorld’s Antarctica.

The Cup That Cares souvenir reusable cup will be available at the two beverage stations inside the attraction for $9.99, adorned with photos of Empire of the Penguin ride star Puck and his penguin family.

There’s also the Create A Cup That Cares, enabling guests to personalize penguin-shaped character cups by choosing from more than 40 accessories such as eyes, hair, glasses, hats, bow tie, necklaces and even miniature Shamu ice cream bars and SeaWorld shopping bags. The Create A Cup That Cares will be sold in the Antarctica gift shop, and includes a free first fill at the nearby Antarctica beverage stations, starting at $15.95.

SeaWorld will donate $1 from each Cup That Cares purchase to the SeaWorld & Busch Gardens® Conservation Fund, a not-for-profit foundation that helps protect wildlife around the world.

Refills throughout the park for both Cup That Cares options are $.99 each.
