Though the summer season is rapidly approaching, Universal Orlando has already begun looking toward fall, announcing the dates for Halloween Horror Nights 2013, beginning earlier and ending later with 27 nights of frights.

The event will kick off on September 20, 2013 and continue on select nights all the way through November 2. Halloween Horror Nights normally ends on October 31, but with Halloween falling on a Thursday this year, it makes sense to keep it running across the extra Friday and Saturday evenings.

The complete list of Halloween Horror Nights 23 dates is:
Sept. 20-21, 26-29, Oct. 3-6, 10-13, 16-20, 23-27, and Oct. 31-Nov. 2.

Universal Orlando is promising “it will be unlike any other year,” but has yet to reveal any details about this year’s themes, haunted mazes, shows, or scare zones. But the official Halloween Horror Nights web site does note that the event will once again take place at the Universal Studios Florida theme park, with no mention of expanding to Islands of Adventure this year.

The creative team behind the event in Orlando is once again working with that of Universal Studios Hollywood to develop ideas for their scares. Rumors suggest a return of “The Walking Dead,” after the popular TV show drew huge crowds at last year’s event, with a new haunted house based on season 3’s prison setting. But that’s just a rumor for now. More details will surely be revealed in the coming months leading up to the event.
