This week Disneyland offered a sneak peek of the new Fantasy Faire, opening next week. Today we take a closer look at the details of the new area, talking to the minds behind its creation.

In the video below, Walt Disney Imagineer Michel Den Dulk, Show Director Christopher Utley, and Sous Chef Ralph Perez share insight on the choices made while designing the details, food, and fun that’s featured throughout Fantasy Faire.

Topics in the interviews / tour include the Royal Hall meet-and-greets, Royal Theatre unconventional storytelling shows, increasing availability and popularity of foam-topped drinks at Disneyland and Walt Disney World – and the possibility of swing dancing returning to the park.

It’s also worth noting that the original Carnation Plaza Gardens floor that Walt Disney danced on (along with countless others over the decades) is still intact in Fantasy Faire. Though Disney hasn’t decided if swing dancing will return to the park, hinging it on the new area’s nighttime popularity, those who attend the new shows there can know that they are still walking in Walt’s footsteps.

Fantasy Faire officially opens on March 12, 2013. Disneyland annual passholders can also take part in a Q&A with Imagineers we talked to above on March 14.
