Walt Disney World debuted its most highly-anticipated Limited Time Magic offering so far this year: Long Lost Friends Week. An assortment of “rare” characters are appearing throughout the day at the Magic Kingdom, today through January 27, in Town Square at the front of the park, offering guests to snap a photo with familiar faces that don’t regularly appear.
The characters rotate out in 30-minute shifts, carrying flags with their names as they enter, for those who aren’t familiar with them. A main sign shows which characters are currently meeting guests.
(Thanks to @DizParksFan and @WDW_EPCOTCenter on Twitter for these photos!)
These “long lost” characters are taking pictures in groups with guests, but not signing autographs, instead handing out Limited Time Magic autograph cards featuring all the signatures on the back.
The characters available to meet this week are:
Scrooge McDuck and Ludwig Von Drake

The two ducks are identified as being from the old “DuckTales” TV show. Scrooge McDuck was certainly a main character of that show, but Ludwig Von Drake was only in a single episode, playing Launchpad McQuack’s psychiatrist.
Robin Hood, Prince John, Sheriff of Nottingham, and Friar Tuck
The Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf
Clarabelle Cow and Horace Horsecollar
Pinocchio, Geppetto, and Jiminy Cricket
Long Lost Friends Week continues daily through January 27, from 9am until 4pm, in 30 minute shifts on and off. Guests have reportedly waited 30-60 minutes for characters today, but lines should decrease after the holiday weekend ends.
Limited Time Magic continues throughout 2013 with the possibility of more rare characters to return in a future Long Lost Friends Week. Who would you like to see? (I’m hoping for Darkwing Duck!)

This is awesome. After the first two weeks, I began to think WDW’s Limited Time Magic offerings would be sub-par, but this is just outstanding. Would love to see Huey, Dewey, and Louie in the future!
is this just going to be for this year or will they do it again next year as well?
It’s only planned for this year, but I assume that if it does really well, then Disney will try it again!
Even though I’m not there, I still want to wait for Roger Rabbit, Kermit the Frog, and Miss Piggy to come out.
I would love to have them bring back the characters of Hercules. Or just bring the villains out not only during the Halloween season. Villains are my favorite! I will probably never get to go for the Halloween party, and seeing as they have basically stripped villains from the parks, there isn’t much I can do with them.
The Villains will be out at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on Friday, September 13th until 1am for a special dance party, part of Limited Time Magic.
The Robin Hood characers are “rare”? I’ve never NOT seen them at Town Square! (But then, I haven’t been back since the mid-00′s…Never did get a picture with Robin, although Prince John and Friar Tuck were easy to find.)
And nice to see Jiminy back from Animal Kingdom–Does he still appear there on Earth Day?
The odd thing is that 7 of these “limited” characters are often out at Disneyland Paris
I was there in the early 90′s and the Robin Hood Characters were around. That seemed to be when you saw more characters just roaming around and not in scheduled meet and greets.
Bring Robin Hood & Pinocchio characters out again for later in 2013! Villans are a must (Maleficent & Evil Queen), Lady & Tramp, Pocahontas/Miko, Bambi, Three Caballeros, Oliver & Company, Roger Rabbit/Jessica Rabbit/ Huey Baby/Bad Wesels, Dumbo, Seven Drawfs, Sleeping Beauty’s Fairies, Aristocats, Ariel/Flounder/Sebastian/Scully, The Great American Tale, & Brave Little Toaster..to name a few (lol)
We go every month, and we haven’t been seeing Robin Hood characters, but I’ve seen Geppetto and Pinnochio and have pics with them.
