The 2013 Oscar nominations have been announced and Disney leads the pack in animation, taking the majority of Best Animated Feature Film spots along with one animated short film, but few nods in other categories.
Here’s the rundown for Disney:
Animated Feature Film
“Brave” – Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman
“Frankenweenie” – Tim Burton
“Wreck-It Ralph” – Rich Moore
(nominated against “ParaNorman” and “The Pirates! Band of Misfits”)
Short Film (Animated)
“Paperman” – John Kahrs
(nominated against “Adam and Dog,” “Fresh Guacamole,” Head Over Heels,” and “Maggie Simpson in ‘The Longest Daycare'”)
Visual Effects
“Marvel’s The Avengers” – Janek Sirrs, Jeff White, Guy Williams and Dan Sudick
(nominated against “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” “Life of Pi,” “Prometheus,” and “Snow White and the Huntsman”)
Disney-distributed “Lincoln” (a DreamWorks film) received the most nominations of all films this year at 12, including Best Picture, Lead Actor, Directing, and Original Score. That score nomination goes to John Williams, his 48th, which is more nominations than any other living person. Walt Disney, however, still holds the record for the most lifetime nominations with 59.
