Walt Disney World Offers Sneak Peek at Seven Dwarfs Mine Train With New Virtual Ride and See-Through Construction Walls

in Disney, Entertainment, Walt Disney World

As Walt Disney World prepares the grand opening of New Fantasyland and its many new attractions, they are already keeping attention focused on bigger ones still to come. During a special presentation for the media that preceded a New Fantasyland preview party, Disney Parks & Resorts chairman Tom Staggs showed off a new simulation ride-through of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train coaster, still under construction at the Magic Kingdom, slated to open in 2014.

Staggs noted the video does not show the full ride, leaving a few “surprises” for the future, but that it does depict both the dark ride and more thrilling elements to the attraction, a combination of two ride styles.

Guests visiting the Magic Kingdom to see New Fantasyland will also notice themed construction walls surrounding the Mine Train site, decorated with depictions of the dwarfs themselves, engaged in tasks themed to nearby attractions. Those interested in seeing more of the construction are invited to “Take a Peek” through a few transparent sections of the walls, courtesy of Dopey. And it seems it is the dwarfs themselves who are building the ride, whistling while they work as heard by music and sound effects played from behind the walls.
