‘Finding Nemo’ pool at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort to feature underwater sound system, ‘Cars’ wing takes shape

When Disney’s Art of Animation Resort opens at the end of next month, the first Disney animated film-inspired wing to debut will be themed to “Finding Nemo” and today a new video offers a closer look at some of the unique elements that will be featured in and around its pool, along with a first look at the Cars wing coming later.

The “Finding Nemo” wing’s courtyard and pool are designed to immerse guests into the underwater world from the Disney/Pixar film. In the video below, Disney host “Patty” takes viewers on a tour around the area.

Most notably, the new hotel’s “Finding Nemo” pool will be Disney’s largest outside of its water parks and will feature a unique underwater sound system. (I wonder if it will speak whale?)

Surrounding the pool are plants specifically chosen for their resemblance to flowing underwater foliage.

In addition to Crush seen at the top of this article, other familiar “Finding Nemo” characters and elements reproduced in larger-than-life sizes are Squirt, Mr. Ray, Marlin, Nemo, jellyfish, and the ever-popular “Mine! Mine!” seagulls.

While the “Finding Nemo” wing opens on May 31, just over two weeks later the “Cars” wing is close to follow, opening on June 18. And the new video also offers a great glimpse at how Radiator Springs is shaping up. It’s not quite as elaborate as the Cars Land counterpart, opening June 15 inside the Disney California Adventure theme park, but from the looks of it, fans of Disney/Pixar’s “Cars” should still enjoy this trip down Route 66.

Rooms at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort are already available for booking and opening dates have been announced for all four of its wings, which include the “Finding Nemo” and “Cars” wings shown off above as well as “The Little Mermaid” and “The Lion King,” opening later this summer.
