Though the new Disney Fantasy offers countless hours of entertainment and areas to explore, not all time spent on a Disney Cruise Line vacation is onboard. With the Fantasy exclusively sailing 7-day voyages, several ports of call invite passengers to step off the ship and onto a variety of Caribbean islands. But like a stateroom aboard the ship, guests can book some private time off the ship, a few paces away from all the beachfront fun found at Disney’s own private island, Castaway Cay.
I first took the time to explore Castaway Cay and most of its many amenities when I sailed the Disney Dream Christening Cruise last year. During the recent Inaugural voyage of the Fantasy, I made a point to see some sights during the couple hours I spent at Castaway Cay, particularly making a stop in one of the island’s cabanas.
Along Castaway Cay’s family beaches and the adult-exclusive Serenity Bay beach, 20 rental cabanas are available. Each 325-square foot deluxe cabana is furnished with tables, cushioned chaise lounges, a stocked refrigerator, fresh water shower and incredibly inviting hammock. Completed in 2010, these cabanas offer a limited crowd a chance to get away from the getaway, enjoying Disney’s private island with privacy.
Take a look around these unique offerings in the video below.

That level of privacy doesn’t come cheap. The price of a cabana rental for a day at Castaway Cay is $499 for up to six guests (including children), with the ability to add up to four additional guests for $50 per person. But the price may be worth it for a whole family who plans on spending the entire day on shore, offering the ability to kick back, relax, have a soda and a snack, and providing nothing short of a spectacular ocean view from the cabana’s front patio deck.
Cabana reservations are available 90 days prior to cruise sailings and can be made when logging in to DisneyCruise.com. With only a handful available, they often fill up quickly.
Of course, a private cabana isn’t required to enjoy the many stunning views that can be found throughout Castaway Cay. Below are a few of my favorite photos I snapped while recently wandering its beaches, followed by a full slide show of the cabana and other shots, including the first-ever meet-up of the Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream at the island. And don’t miss my previous full report about Castaway Cay for more about the unique Disney Cruise Line port of call.
