Now through Jan. 29, 2012, Disneyland is offering extra theme park entertainment as part of the Happy Lunar New Year Celebration. In honor of the Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese Lunar New Year, the celebration features live performances, activities and food.

From 10 am to 5 pm, the Small World Mall is appropriately home to the celebration, featuring character appearances with extra live performances held Jan. 20-23, Jan. 25 and Jan. 27-29 including a Chinese Dragon dance troupe, lion dancers, ribbon wand dancers, Korean drummers, Vietnamese musicians and dancers, and martial artists.

Mulan’s Chinese New Year Procession is seen at selected times throughout the day, in which Mulan and Mushu proceed in colorful costumes to a photo location area where guests can meet-and-greet with them along with Chip ‘n’ Dale dressed in Asian-inspired attire.

Chinese Zodiac symbols, ornamental lanterns, “Happy Lunar New Year” banners decorate the area, as well as signs explaining the meaning and traditions of various Lunar New Year celebrations, presented in English, Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese.

Area food carts serve chocolate churros, eggrolls, edamame and almond cookies.
