Exotic Driving Experience to offer new high-speed Disney World attraction with Ferrari and Lamborghini at Richard Petty track

in Disney, Entertainment, Walt Disney World

A new driving experience will debut at Walt Disney World’s Richard Petty Driving Experience in January 2012 featuring fast and sleek exotic sports cars. Tentatively titled “Project Exotic,” the experience will offer a chance to get behind the wheel of some of the world’s fastest cars.

Included on the list of cars that will be available for taking around the track are the Ferrari F430 Scuderia, Ferrari F458 Italia, Lamborghini Gallardo LP560, Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera, Audi R8, Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, and Porsche 911 GTR3.

UPDATE (11/8/11): A name has been decided: Exotic Driving Experience. And the official web site for the new offering has been launched at exoticdriving.com, with rides priced at $99 and drives starting at $199.

The web site also offers a map of the new course being developed for the experience, that includes a switchback, esses, and increasing and decreasing radius corners:

The exact name of this addition to the existing Richard Petty Driving Experience, which allows Disney guests to ride in or drive open-wheel and stock cars, is still being decided. According to the survey on the Project Exotic web site, name choices being considered include “Exotic Driving Experience,” “Exotic Track Experience,” “ExotiCar,” and “Exotic Drives.”

In just a couple months new cars will be hitting the track located just outside the parking lot for the Transportation and Ticket Center and Magic Kingdom.

Back in February, guests at Epcot had a chance to drive the Corvette along with other Chevrolet and GMC cars in a special (and unrelated) traveling event called Main Street in Motion. The relatively small course laid out in cones in the Epcot parking lot offered a quick taste at what it’s like to drive fast cars near a Disney theme park.

If the excitement of that brief drive is any indication of the thrills that will be offered during high-speed loops around the Richard Petty Driving Experience track come January, then Project Exotic is sure to be a success.

More information about Project Exotic can be found via their Twitter and Facebook.
