Disney’s Art of Animation Resort has been announced to open in phases, beginning May 31, 2012 with the “Finding Nemo” wing. The newest addition to the Value resorts at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. will feature four separate wings, each themed to a different Disney animated film.

Yesterday Disney offered a sneak peek at some of the elements that have been or will be installed into the new resort hotel via the video below.

Located across from Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort’s first open wing themed around the characters of Disney/Pixar’s “Finding Nemo” will feature only family suites that include a bedroom, living room, and other useable space.

Following “Finding Nemo,” the “Cars” wing will open in late July 2012 followed by “The Lion King” wing in September 2012, both also featuring family suites, for a total of 1,120 across the resort. The final wing, featuring “The Little Mermaid” will open in late 2012 (no month specified yet) and will contain 864 standard guest rooms, rather than family suites.

Within the “Finding Nemo” wing, the “Big Blue” pool will be just under 12,000 square feet and will be accompanied by a dry play area called “Squirt’s Righteous Reef.” Ultimately Disney’s Art of Animation Resort will have three pools total as well as a children’s water play area.

Reservations are already available for Disney’s Art of Animation Resort via Disney’s web site.
