Halloween Horror Nights 2011 scareactors emerge from the darkness at Universal Orlando tweet-up

in Entertainment, Theme Parks, Universal Orlando

Universal Orlando held its first-ever Halloween Horror Nights tweet-up, inviting any followers of @UORHHN to attend an after-hours special event full of surprises. In addition to an information-filled presentation and Q&A session featuring three of Horror Nights’ creators, Universal unveiled first looks at haunted houses, scare zones, and even some encounters with a few of this year’s scareactors.

With so much packed into one evening, I thought it best to separate a few of the most interesting topics into individual posts, to ensure each gets its own attention. So in this first post to come out of the tweet-up, I am sharing an up-close look at the scareactors brought out for attendees to see. They were from the haunted houses called The Forsaken, Nevermore, and The In Between as well as the Acid Assault scare zone. They weren’t doing any scaring at the tweet-up, but instead wandered through the audience allowing everyone to get a good look – before the scares set in when Halloween Horror Nights begins next week.

The Acid Assault costume was particularly effective when seen in the darkness, offering a truly realistic view of a skull that has melted flesh dripping off of it. Gruesome, eh? I look forward to seeing how it’s incorporated into that scare zone, which is being set up just outside The Revenge of the Mummy attraction.

Tonight offered attendees to get what will likely be the best look available at three other costumes, which will be part of haunted house experiences. With picture-taking not allowed inside the mazes, these scareactors will be doing their best to extract screams from those who pass by, not posing for photos as they were at the tweet-up.

Two additional costumes were also on display, but on mannequins rather than live actors. They were characters from the Nightingales and Winter’s Night haunted houses:

These are just a few of the many original characters created for Halloween Horror Nights 2011, which debuts on September 23 at Universal Studios Orlando. More information about the event, including ticket pricing and purchasing options, can be found at HalloweenHorrorNights.com/Orlando.
